Samuel A. Slick; Feb. 17, 1938 Manchester Press

Samuel A. Slick, died at Oelwein, age 67 years, after a long illness. Funeral was held at his home, pastor of the M. C. church officiating. The body was brought here to Colesburg for burial at the Brown Cemetery. Born Aug. 26, 1870 on a farm north of Colesburg, he married Miss Stella Wiltsie on Oct 11, 1899. they made their home in Oelwein where he was employed by the Great Western Railroad as a machinist, retiring in 1931 because of poor health.
His wife and three children preceded him in death. Surviving are a daughter,
Mrs. C. J . Beers, a son Harvey and one grandaughter, all of Des Moines, Ia.
His aged mother, Mrs M. A. Hodges of Colesburg, one brother, J.A. Slick of Earlville and 2 half brothers, Thomas Hodges of Dubuque and Edward Hodges of Colesburg also survive.
