Peter Stauer, who began the lumber business in McGregor in 1862, and closed his interest in the firm of Stauer & Daubenberger in 1898, died in Chicago Nov. 7th, when nearly seventy-nine years old.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery and that he was born in 1824.

The remains of Peter Stauer arrived here from Chicago Saturday morning, and the funeral was held in the Congregational church Sunday afternoon. He was an old time resident here in the lumber business, moving to Denver about six or seven years ago, and to Chicago last spring. His son Ishmael and son-in-law Otto Hattinger were here to attend the funeral.
