Margaret Peters, the only child of Michael and Anna Peters, was born at Amberg, Bavaria, Germany, May 15th, 1859, and died June 15, 1914, aged 55 years and one month. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 18th, at St. Patrick's church, Monona, interment in the Catholic cemetery. At three years of age Margaret came with her parents to America, the family settling on a farm two miles northeast of Monona. Here she attended the common school, receiving instruction in the American ways and means of life's journey, until grown to womanhood, when, on May 28, 1874, she was united in marriage to Sebastian Walch, a thriving young farmer, located two miles west of Monona, where the young couple took up their abode and together commenced an earnest and prosperous life of toil, on which place they resided until about a year ago, when they sold the old homestead and moved to Minneapolis, Minn. A devoted husband mourns her passing to the beyond; three sons and three daughters, and two grandchildren survive her : Mrs. Marie Warner, of Chicago, Ill.; Joseph F. and Mrs. Anna Steele, of Monona, Iowa; Albert M., Henry A. and Margaret E. residing in Minneapolis. The oldest son, Max J., preceded the mother to the grave by ten years. After an illness of nine days, surrounded by family, the loved ones of her household, she quietly severed the silver cord and passed over the great divide, a beloved wife, a devoted and loving mother. The funeral services were largely attended.
