Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 04 June 1914. Strawberry Point column.

Frances Tilp was born in Germaany in the year 1848 and emigrated to this country with her children in the spring of 1886, but has been in ill-health for the last few years. Her soul passed quietly away at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 19th, at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 20 days. As a mother she was of the whole-souled, loving kind, whose every care and time are spent in the fulfillment of those duties of love which only a mother can do. As a friend she was true and faithful and always kind and thoughtful to those about her. For the past twenty-one years she made her home with the family of John Schultz, now of this place. She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, John Tilp, of Thorpe, Iowa, and Chas. Tilp, of Peru, Iowa, and eight grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends. The funeral was held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Catholic church, of which she was a faithful and constant member all her life. Interment took place in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
