Frank Theodore Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Sherman, was born on a farm one mile west of Monona, Sept. 23, 1877, and died at his home in Postville, Iowa, May 18, 1914, at the age of 36 years, 7 months and 25 days. In 1893 he moved to town with his parents, where he attended the Monona High School, and later took a course at Highland Park College, at Des Moines. On Nov. 19, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Mate Jenkins, at Monona, and thenceforth established a home, surrounded by the most tender ties of human affection. One son was born to this union, Frank T., Jr., who has shared with his mother the warmth of love and tenderness faithfully bestowed. In 1903, with his brother-in-law, L. S. Ernst, he purchased the Monona Brick Yard, continuing the business for two years, when it was sold to the Clay Products Company, of Postville, to which place he moved his family, where he became foreman of the yard, continuing in the business until failing health made it necessary for him to give up the work. He has for the past year sought relief by taking treatment at Cresco and Rochester, but to no avail. He had striven hard to ward off the inevitable hand hovering about him, buoyed up by the thoughts of those depending upon him, whose welfare was his first consideration, and at the opening of the spring work he again assumed his position as overseer at the Postville plant in seemingly fair health up until a week ago, when he began to fail, passing quietly away of heart trouble at 11:30 o'clock, Monday morning. He leaves to mourn his untimely passing away, his wife and son Frank, mother, father and sister Blanche, besides many other relatives and a host of friends, whose sympathy goes out to the bereaved family. The remains was brought to Monona Monday evening and taken to the home of his parents. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, at the Congregational church, conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Meek, burial taking place at the Monona cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic lodge, Hon. Chas. E. Schultz, of Guttenberg, conducting burial service, assisted by an unusually large number of the members of the fraternity from the local lodge and surrounding towns.

The relatives from a distance attending the funeral of Frank T. Sherman Wednesday were: Mrs. G. H. Jenkins, of Postville; C. W. Jenkins, of McGregor; Mrs. J. M. Leach, of Elkader; Lloyd S. Ernst, of Eyota, Minn.; Fred Bierbaum and Misses Lucy and Flora Bierbaum, of Garnavillo; Miss Marie Bierbaum and Miss Gertruce Schulte, of Manley, Ia.; and Mrs. Emil Ihm, of Guttenberg.
