Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 May 1914. Monona column.
Mrs. Linna Tapper Hupfer, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Tapper, was born in Giard township, Clayton County, Iowa, May 31, 1875, and departed this life May 2, 1914, at Clinton, Iowa. She began her education in the public school and graduated from the Monona High School in the first graduating class. Her parents sent her to Cornell College and later to take a course in music at Iowa City. Thus she was well fitted to enter upon life's duties. On Sept. 6, 1898, she was married to Arthur E. Hupfer. Their home at first was at Monona, later at Rowley, and for the last several years at Clinton, Iowa. For some time she had not been feeling well, but it was only a week or so before her death that the illness seemed to demand the attention of a physician. On Thursday she was taken to the hospital, where she died on Saturday afternoon. A religious service was held at the home in Clinton, attended by her many friends there, after which her husband and two sons, so suddenly bereaved, together with her parents and two brothers, Dr. Geo. Tapper and W. J. Tapper, brought the body to Monona for burial. The funeral was held in the Monona Methodist Church, of which she was a member, on May 5th, and the body interred in Monona Cemetery. Her husband and sons, Beryl and Boyce, father and mother and two brothers have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.
