Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 May 1914. Strawberry Point column.

John Chamberlain was born in Great Valley, New York, on January 12, 1835, and died here May 2nd. He was married at Rockford, Ill., to Miss Jane Parker, November 6th, 1865. To them were born four daughters, Mrs. Alex Riddell, of Strawberry Point, Iowa; Mrs. C. A. and Mrs. A. E. Peterson, of Manchester, and Jennie M., who died in infancy. One brother, Benton Chamberlain, one granddaughter, Florence E. Riddell, several nieces and nephews, with his wife and daughters, survive him. Mr. Chamberlain came here last fall and from that time until his death made his home with Mrs. Riddell. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Moore, of Manchester. The remains were taken to Manchester on the train, where burial took place.
