Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 May 1914.

Joseph Geiselman was born in W___ter, Wayne County, Ohio, October 30th, 1830, and died May 10th, 1914, being 83 years, six months and ten days old at the time of his death.

In 1855 he came to Osterdock, where he later took up his residence on the farm, where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Bolsinger on Feb. 18th, 1864, and to this union one child was born, Sarah Elizabeth Schrunk, who still survives him and saw to his needs during his remaining years, his wife preceding him in death last March. He is also survived by one half-sister, Maggie, of Emporia, Kansas, and three grandchildren, Wayne Schrunk, of Savanna, and Elmer and Clarence Schrunk, of Osterdock.

He led a very simple life, which was his pleasure, and was a good husband and father and always ready to help those in want, therefore setting a good example for those who wished to follow him. Deceased had been in failing health for a good many years and retired from his work some fifteen years ago, although still making his residence on the homestead, where nearly all his life was spent. Although ailing at times no fear was felt for his safety as he always rallied and never was bedfast for any length of time. On May 2nd he was taken to his bed with a stoke of paralysis from the effects of which he failed gradually until May 9th, when he entered into a sleep from which he never awoke, death coming peacefully at 11:00 p.m. the next night.

Funeral services were held at Bethel on Wednesday, May 13th, Rev. Felter officiating and was largely attended by relatives and friends.

The relatives present were his daughter, Sarah, three grandchildren, Wayne, Elmer and Clarence, and F. J. Schrunk, of Dubuque, Iowa.
