Obituary.
Mrs. Rose Robbins McKinnis
And Infant Daughter. It was a sad funeral service held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robbins, near Osborne, Iowa, Saturday morning, April 18th, 1914, of their beloved daughter, Mrs. Rose McKinnis, who died at Ava, Mo., after a brief illness, during which she gave birth to a beautiful daughter, who also fell asleep in death and was lain by the side of her mother.
Mrs. McKinnis was born at Osborne, Iowa, Aug. 15th, 1877, and died at her home in Missouri April 14th, 1914, aged 37 years and eight months. She grew to young womanhood in and around Osborne and on April 28th, 1907, at Elkader, Iowa, was married to Mr. Everett McKinnis, the now bereft and sorrowing husband. To this happy union two children were born, After their marriage they lived on a farm near Mederville for three years and then they moved to Ava, Mo., where they have lived for the past four years, when the Angel of Death entered their happy home and took the devoted wife and mother and the infant daughter to the land of immortal life, where sorrow and sighing are unknown.
How strange are God's providences ! How dark and mysterious are his movements toward his children at times. Our reason staggers and our faith trembles for a moment in their presence, but we know our heavenly Father is too wise to err and too good to be unkind to his children. When the mists of earth shall have passed away and we shall see face to face God's ways in our earthly history, then we shall understand.
Mrs. McKinnis was a Christian woman and identified herself with the church of God several years ago. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a woman greatly beloved for her Christian virtues and noble life by all who knew. But her work is done, her warfare is accomplished and she has entered into that rest that remaineth to the people of God.
She leaves a loving husband, two children, four step-children, a father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. May Mitchell and Mrs. Lange, three brothers, James, who lives at home, and John and Robert, who live at Mederville, Iowa; with a number of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
The services were conducted by Rev. Walter Piper, of Volga, and the music was furnished by the members of his choir. The interment was in the beautiful cemetery of Mederville.
"Asleep in Jesus ! Blessed sleep,
From which none ever wakes to weep !'------------
