The many friends of Miss Catherine Berse will learn with sorrow that she died last night at about twelve o'clock in the hospital in Dubuque, to which she had been taken. It is a sad case of a young life cut short just in bloom. She was about twenty-three years old. Her brothers, John and Ed, went to Dubuque this morning and will return tonight with her remains. We understand that the funeral services will be held Saturday.

The funeral services for Miss Catherine Berse were held at St. Joseph's church at this place last Saturday morning, Rev. F. J. Reilly officiating.
Miss Berse was born in Volga township Sept. 22, 1889, and grew to womanhood on the home farm. A few years ago she moved to Elkader with her brothers, the mother dying shortly before. Miss Berse remained in the home and was loved and respected by all who knew her. A few weeks ago she was taken ill and on April 7th she was taken to Dubuque for treatment. Her death occurred at the Mercy Hospital in that city early Thursday morning, April 16th.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Behrens, of Oelwein, two brothers, Ed. and John, of Elkader, and other relatives, beside a wide circle of friends who mourn her untimely death.
