Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 02 Apr. 1914.
At three o'clock Sunday afternoon, March 22nd, 1914, occurred the sudden death of Mrs. Louisa Harboldsheimer Torrey at her home in Millville township. She was born in Union Town, Penn., Aug. 5th, 1862, and moved with her parents to Iowa when seven years old. At the age of 52 years, 7 months and 15 days she quietly obeyed the summons to come up higher. She united with the Lutheran church at the age of 14 years, later joining the U.B. church, of which she was a faithful member the rest of her life.
On July 4th, 1882, she was joined in marriage to Henry Torrey. To them were born four children, Fred, Mae, Lizzie and Barbara, all of Clayton County, Iowa. Besides these she leaves an aged father, three brothers, Phillip, John and Daniel Harboldsheimer; three sisters, Anna, Lena and Lizzie; also four step-children, Milo and Nettie, of Morrel, Neb.; Ed Torrey, of Turkey River, and Earl Torrey, of Manchester, Iowa, besides several grandchildren and other relatives and a large circle of friends, who will all sadly miss her.
Funeral was held at the Hopewell church Thursday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. O. J. Felter, of Colesburg, and interment was made in the Friedlein cemetery.
