Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 Maar. 1914.

Mrs. Gullickson, whose maiden name was Gro Nilson, was born in Numedal, Norway, Jan. 4th, 1834. In the year 1859 she was united in marriage to Halvor Gullickson, also from Numedal, Norway. In 1860 the young couple came to America, coming to Clayton County. After a year or so they bought a farm, which, with the exception of four years spent in farming near Kindred, N.D., has been their home. They were among our early settlers, Mr. Halverson having a blacksmith shop, which he run on his farm up to the time of his death., which occurred about ten years ago.

They had a family of seven children four of whom are dead. Those living are Mrs. Margret Lee, of Hawley, Minn.; Nels, who now owns the home farm; and Oley, who makes his home with his brother.

For many years Mrs. Gullickson has been troubled with different kinds of sickness, making life a burden to her, but she was blessed with a cheerful disposition and had always received good care from her children, and also from her near neighbors and friends, who always responded to aid her when help was needed. That their help was appreciated we all know. She was grateful and thankful for all. Her regret was that she was unable to do anything in return. Thus the years rolled on until about six weeks ago when she was taken sick with lung fever and on March 18th she died in the hope of a better life, where sickness and death never enter. She was over 80 years of age at the time of her death. On Friday, March 20th, she was laid at rest in the Norway Lutheran cemetery, Rev. Arveson conducting the funeral services at the house and church.

A Card of Thanks was signed by: Mr. and Mrs. Nels Halverson, Mrs. Margret Lee and Oley Halverson.
