Pioneers Passing Away
Last week’s Monona Leader published the obituaries of four aged residents of Clayton county, viz : Francis G. Cook, aged 86 years, a resident in Farmersburg township since 1850; Catherine Helwig Wiegand, aged 84, a resident near Giard since 1857; Julia Sullivan O’Daily, aged 80, a resident of Wagner township since 1857; and Maria Barbara Seitz-Rupp, aged almost 80; a resident in Giard township since 1850.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows Julia Sullivan O’Daily is buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. She was born in 1822 and died March 16, 1902.

DIED - Sunday evening, March 16, 1902, at her home in Wagner township, Mrs. Julia Sullivan O'Daily.

Deceased was born in Ireland in 1822, came to America in 1846, and was united in marriage to Morris O'Daily in 1852, in New York City. They came to McGregor in 1857 and in 1861 purchased a farm in Wagner township where they resided till death called them hence. Mr. O'Daily died in June 1901, Daniel in 1890, Morris, in infancy.

There remain, Mrs. Mike Allen of Kansas City, Mo.; John of Tacoma, Wash.; Jeremiah of St. Paul; and Cornelius at home, to mourn the loss of a kind mother.

She was a good neighbor, beloved and esteemed by all who knew her, ever ready to lend a helping hand to all those in need.

The funeral was held at Monona, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Catholic church. The children and relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
