_______Mrs. William Aulwes Died At Home Of Son
_______90 YEARS OLD
_______Thought to be Guttenberg’s oldest resident and one of the oldest native residents of Clayton county, Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth Aulwes died Monday at the home of her son, of illness complicated by her advanced age of 90 years, nine months and 17 days. Mrs. Aulwes had been a lifelong resident of this community.
Funeral Thursday
The funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon from the Ben Schroeder home and from St. Paul’s Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock in charge of Rev. Victor Hackbarth, pastor of the church. Burial will be in the Guttenberg City cemetery in charge of the Beerman funeral home.
Born March 24, 1853, in Jefferson township, Mrs. Aulwes was Catherine Elizabeth Tuecke, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Tuecke. She was married to William Aulwes and the couple made their home on the Aulwes farm north of Guttenberg which Mr. Aulwes had received in turn from his father.
Husband Died in 1912
Following the death of Mr. Aulwes in 1912, Mrs. Aulwes and her son, William, lived on the place farming it until about nine years ago when they moved to Guttenberg.
Mrs. Aulwes is survived by two children, William, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Ella Schroeder, also of Guttenberg. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
