Word was received here Wednesday morning that Ambrose Carpenter, living a few miles south of Mederville, had committed suicide. He went to the barn in the morning to do his chores and as he did not return his wife went out to look for him and found him hanging in an apple tree. The cause which prompted him to take his life is unknown. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters, besides other relatives and friends. Burial will be at Cox Creek on Friday.

The funeral of Ambrose Carpenter was held at the Pleasant Grove church, Jan. 22nd, Charles True and J. P. Childs officiating. Mr. Carpenter was born in Pennsylvania in 1852, died Jan. 21, 1914, making his age 62 years. Besides his wife and four children, Leon, of Montana; Mrs. Leonard Coonfare, of Manchester, and Harvey and Edith, of this place, he leaves three brothers, James, John and Alex, and two sisters, Mrs. John Alderson and Mrs. Vet Marshall, who mourn his death.
