Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 29 Jan. 1914. Monona column.
Frederick Wallace Larison, who died at the home of Wm. Surring, Jan. 15, 1914, was only a young man. He was born in Blossburg, Pa., May 17, 1878, where two sisters and one brother, the only surviving relatives, still live. The earlier years were passed in the east, but when he reached manhood he came west, living in the middle west and on the Pacific coast. He was married to Miss Augusta Ellen Surring, Dec. 17, 1906, who survives him. They were the parents of one child, a daughter, who died in infancy. He was an apparently well man until about four months ago, a tumor rapidly developed and caused much suffering until the end. In youth he became a member of the Methodist church and continued such through life. He was a member of Emporium Lodge No. 382, A.M. & F.M., at Emporium, Pa. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon, Jan. 17th, conducted by Rev. James B. Bird, and burial services at the grave under the auspices of Clayton Lodge No. 70, A.F. & A.M., Hon. Chas. E. Schulz, of Guttenberg, presiding.
(Note: WPA records show him as Frederick Larson, buried in Monona cemetery. Death certificate & cemetery records give surname as Larison. DOB on his gravestone (1872) is in conflict with death certificate (1878) and obituary.)
