Mrs. Jane Sherwood died at her home in this city April 18th at one o'clock p.m. at the ripe age of ninety years. She was our oldest inhabitant.

Mr. Albert Sherwood is in our city, called here by the illness of his mother.

Note: the 4/24/1896 issue of the Elkader Register states he was from Englewood & present at his mother's funeral.

Grandma Sherwood died Monday afternoon. Although she had been confined to the house for a number of years, her death was a shock to all.

Note: The 1860 U.S. census, Cass twp., Strawberry Point enumerated Smith Sherwood (68y), Jane A. (53y), Clark I. (19y) Albert S. (14y), Oscar A. (31y) and Mary E. (36y). All born in N.Y.

The 1855 N.Y. State census, Sarasota, N.Y. enumerated Smith, Jane, Clark I., Lyman & Albert Sherwood. The parents were proprietors of a boarding house with many boarders.
