Frederick Mardaus, who died Oct. _th (looks like 8th or 9th), was born in Birkholz, near Potsdam, Prussia, sixty-five years ago, and was married to Louise Mueller in 1874. Both came to Clayton county in 1875 and settled on a farm in Jefferson township, three miles south of town. His wife died in 1878 and a year later he married Mrs. Minna Kulper. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter, Mrs. Henry Fl_g_l (looks like Flogel or Flegel), in Ottertail, Minn., and one son, Frederick L., at home. The funeral took place Sunday, interment in Dittmer's cemetery.
