Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 17 Sept. 1908.
Mrs. Louise Fleiger, formerly widow of the late John Krambeer, nee Schulte, was born June _th (looks like 9th), 1822, in Graeiest Mecklenburg Schwerin, Germany. She was married to John Krambeer, her first husband, in the year 1843. To this union ten children were born, six still living. Her first husband died in 1874 and five years later she married Mr. Flieger, who died not quite two years later. Since that time she has been living mostly with her children. In the year 1859 she, with her first husband and seven children, emigrated to this country, coming direct to Clayton county, Iowa. Here she lived and toiled hard. Sorrow and afflictions have not been spared her, but she also received so richly the aids and blessings of her Lord during her long pilgrimage. She was active and strong until her latter years, when her strength, mentally and bodily, was declining.
She died on Sept. 8th, 1908, in the home of her son John near Monona, aged 86 years and three months. She leaves to mourn her loss six children, fifty grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, several sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, and also other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held in the house of her son John Krambeer, near Monona, Sept. 10th. By this occasion Rev. F. Gadow, of Farmersburg, had the service and preached the funeral sermon, after which the audience paid the last tribute to the beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Then the casket was closed, the mortal remains were brought to the cemetery close to Monona and sowed in God's acre until the bright morning of glorious resurrection.
(Note: Presented as published. She is listed on WPA records and her gravestone is on the IGPP as Louise Flieger, buried in Monona cemetery.)
