Robert Meuth, a well known citizen of this county, passed away while going from the post office in North Buena Vista to his home, Aug. 20th. Since the death of his brother Rudolph some years ago he was postmaster of his home town. His sudden death was caused by apoplexy. Deceased was born in Bodeu, Germany, in 1840, studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg and followed his vocation until he came to Buena Vista in 1867, where his brothers had previously engaged in the mercantile and real estate business. He was single and is survived by his sister, Fannie, and his brother Charles, in his younger years a sculptor and painter of note. Mr. Meuth was a man of literary attainments, unassuming and of a quiet nature and had the respect of everyone who knew him. His remains were buried Aug. 23rd, Rev. Lux, of Dubuque, officiating.
