Elwyn H. "Al" Schaefer, 74, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. John's Lutheran Church,

Guttenberg, by the Rev. Harold McMillin. Burial: Guttenberg City Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, and one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; a daughter, Lynn Schmitt of Guttenberg; two sons, Don Schaefer of Colesburg and Mike Schaefer of Guttenberg; and three brothers, Don Schaefer of Bettendorf, Roger Schaefer of Forest City and Harvey Schaefer of Forest City.
