Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 05 Mar. 1908. Elkport and Vicinity column.

Word was received Tuesday by Geo. Kriebs that S. J. Soyster, of Cherokee, an old time merchant here for many years, was dead and would be sent here for burial Thursday. For him to make all necessary arrangements for the funeral, etc. Mr. Soyster has many old acquaintances here who remember him as one of the pioneers of this vicinity, having been here before the war.

(Note: WPA records show Solomon Soyster, 1833 / 01 Mar. 1908, as buried in Mt. Harmony cemetery.)
