Mrs. Christ Brockman died Sunday near National, at an advanced age. She is survived by her husband, two sons and four daughters, of these two sons and two daughters live at home, and two daughters, Mrs. Chas. E. Ehrhardt and Mrs. Ed Reardon, reside at Elkader. The funeral was held yesterday at Clayton Center, Rev. Burghard officiating.

Mrs. Maria Brockman, nee Meyer, was born in Germany Oct. 14, 1830. She came to America with her parents who settled at Toledo, O., where they remained three years. She came with her parents to Clayton county in 1857 when they located on a farm in Cox Creek twp. On Nov. 2nd, 1857, she was united in marriage with Christ Brockman and they resided in Cox Creek twp. for nine years and then moved near National, Farmersburg twp., where she died Sunday morning, March 8th.

To this union were born nine children, of these five survive: Mrs. Chas. E. Ehrhardt and Mrs. Ed Reardon, at Elkader; and Fred, Sarah and Christ at home. These, with the husband, one sister, Mrs. John Wernecke, of Communia, two brothers, George, of Motor, and John, of Boardman twp., eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends mourn her departure.

The funeral services were held at the church the 11th, conducted by Rev. Berghard, the interment being at Clayton Center
