Herman Robert Benskin, 87, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, by the Rev. Harold McMillin. Burial: Guttenberg City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Guttenberg, and one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie; three daughters, Cheryl Torrey of Hiawatha, Donna Pierce of Eldridge and Betty Westemeier of Asbury; three sons, Jack of Guttenberg, Paul of Campbellsville, Ky., and Kent of Orangeburg, S.C.; 14 stepchildren, Shirley Palmer of Easton, Pa., Judy Wiese of Federal Way, Wash., Jim Wachendorf of Coralville, Susan Troester of Manchester, Joanne Kuhse of Edgewood, Pat Wachendorf of Guttenberg, Jeannie Funk of Edgewood, Mike Wachendorf of Stanwood, C.J. Wachendorf of Stanwood, Pam Wille of Guttenberg, Randy Wachendorf of Dyersville, Tina Hansel of Waterloo, Paul Wachendorf of Stanwood and Kathy Greve of Guttenberg; two sisters, Alma Pensel of Guttenberg and Alice Tomkins of Mattoon, Ill.; and two brothers, Oran of De Ridder, La., and Ralph of Livingston, Texas.
