Pioneer Woman Passes Away; Burial Monday
Mrs. Anna Mary Stoeffler Suffered Heart Attack Last Friday

Funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church for the late Mrs. Anna Mary Stoeffler, who died suddenly Friday afternoon. Rev. J. A. Dupont officiated at the requiem mass and at the grave in Mt. Olivet.

Mrs. Stoeffler aged 78 years suffered a heart attack late Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. F. Luther, with whom she lived, and passed away a few minutes later. She was born Anna Mary Gerner, in Guttenberg on Nov. 14, 1855 and grew to young womanhood in this community. In Jan. 1871, she was united in marriage to Frank Stoeffler, who passed away on July 28, 1933. They lived in Guttenberg and vicinity all their lives.

To them were born twelve children, six of whom survive. They are Andrew and Otto Stoeffler and Mrs. C. P. Luther of Guttenberg, Mrs. Andrew Even of Charles City, Mrs. E. E. Coy of Fountain City, Wis., and Mrs. E. H. Janzig of Dubuque. There are also four sisters, Mrs. Matt Hoffman of Howard, S. D.; Mrs. John Ruebe of Remsen, Iowa, and Mrs. Anton Dorweiler and Mrs. Theodore Roth of Guttenberg, thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren. Six grandsons, Leroy and Anthony Luther, Edwin, Arthur, Wilbert and Bernard Stoeffler acted as casketbearers at the funeral.

Mrs. Stoeffler was a devout member of St. Mary's church and of St. Ann's society. Her long life in Guttenberg and her love of her family won her many friends who join with the sorrowing family in grief at her passing.

Those from out of town who attended the last rites and visted at the Luther and Stoeffler homes were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sullivan of Dubuque, Jack Luther and Francis Sullivan of Waukon, Mr. and Mrs. John Sinnwell of Nashua, Mr. and Mrs. William Sinnwell of Ionia, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tieland, Mr. and Mrs. William Hutchinson, Mrs. Lorenz Gerner of Rockford, Ill., Mrs. Mike Pryslipski, Mr. and Mrs. John Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Forest McKinney of Millville and Miss Maude Brockman of Chicago.
