AGED RESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH HERE SATURDAY
Louis Frommelt Was Town's Oldest Citizen
Rites Tuesday

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning from the Steger funeral home to St. Mary's church for Louis Frommelt, 94, Guttenberg's oldest resident, who died Saturday at the home of his son, Arnold, following a long illness.

The Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Rev. Alfred J. Schmitz, pastor of St. Mary's, while Rev. Bertram Frommelt served as deacon and Rev. John Karal served as sub-deacon. Graveside services at Mt. Olivet cemetery were conducted by Rev. Schmitz. Pallbearers were Eldon Saeugling, Arthur Welter, John Degnan, Ben Roth, Albert Leliefeld and Ed Huene.

Mr. Frommelt was born May 1, 1864 in Dubuque, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alois Frommelt. In 1891 he married Elizabeth Roth. He had been a Guttenberg resident for sixty-six years and was a retired carpenter.

Surviving Mr. Frommelt are two daughters, Mrs. Alma Heithoff of Carroll and Mrs. Florence Junk of Guttenberg; and ten sons, Chris of Guttenberg; Alfred of Elkader; Clarence of Guttenberg; Alois of Guttenberg; Arthur of Guttenberg; Marcellus of Mishawaka, Indiana; Elmer of Ossian; Arnold of Guttenberg and Edwin of Guttenberg.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Bertha Grode of Los Angeles, California; 55 grandchildren and 80 great grandchildren.

Mr. Frommelt was preceded in death by Mrs. Frommelt who died in 1933, and one son, Leo, and one daughter, Mrs. Hilda Hill.
