The Elkander paper obituary around Jan 24, 1890:
"It is with regret that we announce the death of our young friend, Alexander Sullivan, of Guttenberg, which sad event took place on Saturday evening last, at about 9 o'clock, at about 35 years of age. For over a year Mr. Sullivan has been a sufferer from consumption, and his death was the result of that disease. He was one of the prominent young business men of that city, and held in high esteem by all who enjoyed the pleasure of his acquaintance. Politically he was a democrat, and has for several years been one of the strong party workers in his township. In 1880 he was elected treasurer of his city, and held the office for two years. He leaves an aged father, wife and one son, to mourn the loss of a loving husband and kind father. To the afflicted family we extend our sincere sympathy. Deceased was a member of Prairie la Porte lodge, No. 147..."
