Henry Peterman was born on the Peterman homestead in Highland township, April 4, 1865, and died November 30, 1927, at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 26 days. Mr. Peterman was united in Marriage to Miss Catherine Hayes Feb. 12th, 1887, and began farming on the old homestead which still remains in possession of the family. Into this home were born two children, Earl E. Peterman and Mrs. Ruby Starr. Mr. Peterman is survived by his wife, two children and six grandchildren, two brothers, John W. Peterman of Atlantic, Iowa, and Solomon Peterman of Nevada, Iowa; one sister, Martha Lickiss, of Arlington, Iowa. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, they were William and Joseph, and Mrs. Rebecca Duff and Mary Jane Grimm.

Mr. Peterman was taken sick on Tuesday morning and was taken to the Clark hospital at McGregor Wednesday morning and in spite of skilled physicians and a trained nurse, he quietly fell asleep at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 30, 1927.

Mr. Peterman attended church at Illyria in his early manhood days and in later years at the Presbyterian church at Volga, Iowa.

Services were held at the home and at Illyria church by Rev. E. J. Starr of Elgin, Iowa. Interment was made in the Illyria cemetery. The pall bearers were Fred Ensign, John Kerr, Robert Duff, John Duff, Benj. Royse, Ernest Probert.
