Emily Chase was born in Chateaugay, Vermont, May 5, 1823, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Oestrieck, August 27, 1921, at the age of 98 years, 3 months and 22 days.
In the year 1848, she was united in marriage to Orn Darling, and from this union 8 children were born. Later in the year 1870, she was married to Josiah Peck, and to this union two children were born. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death, several years ago.
Mrs. Emily Peck was well known in the different neighborhoods in which she lived as one always ready to give a helping hand in time of need. She retained her health and faculties to a very advanced age.
Besides a host of friends to mourn her departure, she leaves ten children, 40 grandchildren, 15 great grand children, and 4 great, great grand children.
She lived in North McGregor until a few years ago.
The funeral services were conducted by J.E. Lubach, of Wauzeka, and the interment was in the Shanghai Ridge Cemetery.
