Clayton County Register, Thur., 29 Sept. 1927.

Eliza Mary Waterman, the wife of James Cameron, and the daughter of John and Eleanor Vine Waterman, was born in Buffalo, N.Y., July 16, 1863, while her parents were enroute from Stapleherst, Kent County, England, to Nielsville, Wisconsin. She was the seventh of thirteen children.

On July 17, 1879, she was united in marriage to James Cameron of Elkader, Iowa, at Nielsville, Wisconsin. In 1886, they removed to Elkader which has since been their home with the exception of two years spent in Arkansas.

To this union were born six children, two of whom preceded her in death, Mrs. Etta Fulton of Sioux City, and Mrs. Margaret Wadsach of Denison, Texas. Besides her husband, there remain to cherish her memory four children of whom one son, Guy, of Oskaloosa, is detained in his home by serious illness, and their daughters, Mrs. Lydia McCormick, Fenton, Mich.; Mrs. Martha Wilson of Elkader; and Mrs. Sarah Smith of Fenton, Mich.; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Hall of Nielsville, Wisconsin, who is in infirm health; and there are numerous nieces and nephews.

She passed away at her late home on High street Sept. 23 (Friday) at 5:45 a.m., at the age of 64 years, two months and seven days. For fifteen years she had been in ill health, but her death came unexpectedly at the last.

Eleven years ago last April she was received into the local Congregational church, the rite of baptism being administered by the then pastor Rev. Isaac Cassell. She attended all of its services habitually, including Sunday School and prayer meeting, and was a member of the Guild until failing health prevented.

Besides her six children she brought up two orphans, giving them as tender care as her own. For years, during her younger womanhood there was scarcely a birth or a death in her neighborhood and even beyond that she didn't willingly give her services.

Services were held from her late home and from the Congregational church Sunday afternoon, her pastor Rev. Albert S. Kilbourne, officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the East Side cemetery.

The pall bearers were: E. A. Burlingame, Allie Losch, John Stoops, J. F. Steen H. D. Brown and Ross Richardson.
