Clayton County Register, Thur., 22 Sept. 1927. Volga City column.

Wyllys Prescott White, son of Henry White and Clara Drake White, was born in South Hero, Vermont, and died in Minot, N. Dak., at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 21 days. In 1880 he was united in marriage to Emma E. Whitford, and to them were born three sons: Jamie, who died in infancy, Wyllys W. White of Waterloo, and Leslie A. White of Minot. N. Dak. He is further mourned by a younger brother, H. W. White of Volga City, with whom he felt a rare spirit of fraternal affection. Always with a friendly smile for young and old he made countless friends both in the old community about Volga City and in recent years in North Dakota. In his youth Mr. White attended the academy at St. Albans, Vermont, and Beloit College in Wisconsin, and later took special religious service training at the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. For about forty years he was in business in Volga City. At an early age he affiliated with the church, and both in personal life and church service gave constant evidence of a active, living, Christian faith. During the last several years, he has made his home in Minot and Surrey, N. Dak., where he readily found opportunities for Christian service in Sunday school and church work. A life elder in the Presbyterian church, he was for many years, Supt. of the S.S. and also directed the mid-week prayer service. Scores of young men and women found their Christian faith during the last several well founded Bible teaching in his Sunday school classes. He played his part in community service by serving 18 years as secretary of the school board and he could always be found in support of the right moral issues. A Christian gentleman, a faithful, understanding elder brother, a devoted husband, a father of love and strength, an ardent worker in all church activities, a citizen who played his part manfully, he leaves an influence that will extend itself thru the lives of all who have known him. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Sunday, Sept. 18, 1927. Rev. Krebs of West Union officiated. Interment in Hill Crest Cemetery.
