Mr. Bernard Bird answered the call of his Creator, Thursday evening, December 10th at 7:15 o'clock at his home on Giard Ave., surrounded by members of his immediate family and comforted with the rites of the Catholic church of which he had always been a faithful member.

The deceased was born in County Cavern, Ireland, December 25, 1847, and came to America when 21 years of age settling in New York. A few years later he moved to Wisconsin and engaged in farming near Seneca, where in 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Weber.

In 1890 he moved to Iowa and became an employee of the C.M. & St. Paul railroad.

This union was blessed with eight children, three daughters preceding the father to the grave.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, three daughters, Sister Mary Agnetta, Eau Claire, Wis.; Anne M., Dubuque and Catherine C., at home; two sons, J. Francis, Janesville, Wis., and Edward J., Milwaukee.

An only sister, Mrs. Catherine McCabe of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away several years ago.

The funeral took place Monday morning from his home to St. Mary's church where a Requiem Mass was celebrated at 9:15, Rev. Father Horsfield officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
