Clayton County Register, Thur., 15 Sept. 1927. Elgin column.

Mrs. Bergit Loftsgard was born September 13, 1864, in Wagner township, Clayton county, and died at her home August 29, at the age of sixty-two years, eleven months and sixteen days. In 1888 she was married to Lars T. Loftsgard and they lived in Clayton county one year, then moving to Inwood where they resided until 1909, when they again moved back near their old home and bought the old Halstenson farm. Here she made her home until her death. Her husband preceded her in death twelve years ago, and six sons, all of whom live in this locality, are left to mourn her death. They are: Theodore, M_llien, Helmer, Arthur, Gilbert and Edwin, the latter two lived at home with their mother and conducted the farm. She also leaves two sisters, Gunild and Anna, and three brothers, Gunder of Osage, Albert of St. Olaf, and Ole of Cherokee. In the death of Mrs. Loftsgard, the community has lost a kind friend and a good neighbor and she will be missed greatly. She had been ill for the past two months and in great pain but she never complained and was always in a cheerful mood. She always looked for the sunshine in life and kept cheerful to the very end, even though suffering greatly. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gunsten of Clermont at the Marion Lutheran church August 31 and burial was made in the cemetery nearby.

---------
Note: her gravestone in the Marion Lutheran cemetery spells surname as Loftsgaard. Both spellings are found being used in various records. The obit of her son Gilbert gives her maiden name as Jellum.
