Heinrich Elfert died Wednesday, July 27th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. Seifert, at Clayton Center. He was born in Germany March 16, 1854. In 1864 he came to the United States with his parents, and settled in Iowa near Read, where he spent the rest of his life. He was married to Mina Breitsprecher in 1878. Mrs. Elfert died in 1900. Two children were born to this union, one son, who preceded his mother in death, and one daughter, Bertha Seifert. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister in Minnesota, and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Elfert was a devoted member of the Zion's Lutheran church at Clayton Center.
Funeral services were held at the home of his son-in-law, Fred Seifert, and the Zion's Lutheran church, with interment in the Clayton Center cemetery Saturday afternoon, July 30, Rev. E. Ahrens officiating.
