DREADFUL CASUALTY-John Hartman, a McGregor drayman, known as “Dutch John’ was killed last Sunday by the accidental discharge of a shot gun in his own hands. He and a friend were hunting ducks about the slough when John grasped his gun hurriedly and it discharged its contents into his left breast, the hammer catching on the seat in the boat and exploding the cap. He died instantly. An inquest was impanneled by Esq. Hurlbut, acting Coroner and a verdict rendered according g to the facts.
The deceased leaves a wife and a babe of two weeks old, to mourn for him.
