Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 Jun. 1927.

Mrs. Henry Brust died at her home south of town Friday, June 10, from a complication of diseases after an illness of four weeks and while relatives and friends realized the seriousness of her illness, few expected the end to come as soon as it did.

Ottile Hochhaus was born December 18, 1865, in Cox Creek township, this county, the daughter of Fred and Ottille Hochhaus. Practically all of her life was spent in this county and her friends were numbered by the score.

April 22, 1895, she was united in marriage with Henry Brust. Twenty years ago this venerable couple moved into their small place just south of town where Mrs. Brust passed away last Friday. Mrs. Brust's greatest pleasure in life was to help make someone else happy. She was liberal to a fault and there are many who will attest to this statement. Ever ready to help someone else, she was slow to ask for help and it was this trait which during her last illness that helped to hasten the end. Ill long before she took to her bed, she did not give up until nature and her physical weakness forced her to do so. Everything was done to lighten her suffering, but God in His wisdom designed the course.

Mrs. Brust was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church here and died secure in the faith. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, June 14, from St. Joseph's church and interment was made in the St. Joseph's cemetery, with Rev. Father Goetzinger officiating.

Deceased is survived by her grief stricken husband, Henry Brust, one sister, Mrs. Chas. Peick of Elkader, and three brothers, Frank Hochhaus of Elkader, Fred Hochhaus of Edgewood, and R. A. Hochhaus of Alma, Kansas, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Those from a distance who were here for the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Hochhaus of Alma, Kansas; Mrs. Louis Brust, Mr. and Mrs. John Br_bander and child, and Mrs. Geo. Reinke, of LeMars, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bauer and children of Buena Vista, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. Jellings of Volga City; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Shea of West Union, Iowa; Mrs. Gust Herwig of Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. McAfee of Waterloo; and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schlitz and Mrs. Irma Giger of Dubuque.
