Clayton County Register, Thur., 26 May 1927.

Mrs. William Lindemann, an aged resident of Clayton county, Iowa, passed away at the home of her son, W. F. Lindemann at McGregor, Iowa, on Friday morning, May 20th, at the age of 81 years, one month and 24 days.

Marie Christine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Willberg, was born at Berga, Germany, on Feb. 26, 1846. There she was baptized and confirmed, and came to America on June 10, 1872. On Nov. 7, of the same year she was married to William Lindemann. Six children were born to this union, of which one died in infancy. Clayton county remained the home of the family, with the exception of two years, when they lived in Nebraska. When advanced in years, the aged couple left the farm and moved to Elkader, where Mr. Lindemann passed away on April 13th, 1910. Since that time Mrs. Lindemann made her home with her son, W. F. Lindemann and family, McGregor, Iowa, where she received the best of care.

On Tuesday, May 17th, she suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she did not rally, passing away on Friday morning.

She leaves two sons and three daughter, viz: W. F. Lindemann of McGregor, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Meyer of Elkader, Iowa; Mrs. John Rodenberg of Guttenberg, Iowa; Henry Lindemann, of Elkader, Iowa; and Mrs. Carl Carlson of McGregor, Iowa.

She also leaves 28 grandchildren, other relatives and many old time friends and neighbors.

Services were held Sunday afternoon in the Evangelical church in Elkader and interment was made in the East Side cemetery, Rev. C. H. Frank officiating.

Farewell dear mother, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years, and worn with pain.
Farewell, till in some happy place
We shall behold thy face again.
Tis our's to miss thee, all our years,
And tender memories of thee keep
Thine in the Lord to rest, for so,
He giveth his beloved sleep.
