Clayton County Register, Thur., 19 May 1927. Guttenberg Column.

H. J. Overbeck, one of Guttenberg's highly respected, life-long residents and prominent businessmen, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hilda McGregor, at Madison, S.D., with whom he had been staying for the past few weeks. He had been in poor health for some time previous to his death. Mr. Overbeck was born in Guttenberg, Iowa, in the year 1857, and was married twice, both of his wives having preceded him in death. For many years Mr. Overbeck was successfully engaged in the hardware business in Guttenberg. He was a faithful member of the Masonic, Oddfellow and Woodmen fraternal orders, and in his death this community loses a most worthy citizen. The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial on last Thursday morning and taken to the Masonic Temple where funeral services were held., in charge of Prairie la Porte Lodge A.F. & A.M., on last Thursday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high regard by all who knew him. His death is deeply mourned by two daughters, Mrs. Hilda MacGregor of Madison, S.D., and Mrs. Etta Geuder, of Minneapolis, Minn.; one son, Walter Overbeck, of Guttenberg; three grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends by whom this good and true man will be sadly missed.

(Note: the surname MacGregor / McGregor was spelled both ways in the article, as presented.)
