Clayton County Register, Thur., 12 May 1927. Guttenberg column.

Mrs. Joseph Wolter, nee Mary Burr, one of this community's lifelong, highly respected residents and mothers, passed away at her home in Guttenberg on Wednesday evening of last week at the age of 51 years, three months and 2_ days, after an illness of a long duration. Deceased was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, Iowa, on January 6, 1876, where she grew to womanhood. Twenty-two years ago she was united in marriage with Joseph Wolter at Guttenberg, and since that time has been a resident of this city. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church. Mrs. Wolter was a woman of pleasing personality, which won for her many friends, by whom her memories will be forever cherished. To Know her was to love her. Doing acts of kindness for her family and friends was her greatest pleasure in life at all times. During her illness she was a patient sufferer and had hopes for recovery until the end came. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done to save her life, but all failed when the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond on Wednesday evening of last week. Her untimely death is deeply mourned by her husband: one daughter, Florence Wolter, at home; one son, Adolph Wolter, at home; four sisters, Mrs. John Stamm, Mrs. Adolph Meyer, Mrs. Joseph Felder, and Miss Fannie Burr, all of Guttenberg; and Frank Burr, of Jefferson township, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this good and true (several words blurred) preceded the mother in death. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city on Saturday morning, Rev. Joseph Dupont officiating. The body was laid to rest in Mt. Olivet cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
