Clayton County Register, Thur., 10 Mar. 1927. Strawberry Point column.
Wilbur James Henry was born at Strawberry Point, June 8th, 1918, and died March 3, 1927, in the hospital at Winona, Minn., at the age of eight years, eight months and 23 days. His death was due to a seven-weeks illness of septicaemia and meningitis. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done but to no avail. He bore his sufferings patiently and never complained. Wilbur was a bright child quick to understand and when he attended rural schools here his teachers spoke words of praise about him. The remains were brought here Saturday evening and taken to the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mayme Opperman. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Monday morning conducted by the pastor. Rev. Bowan. Interment took place in the local cemetery. Besides his sorrowing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Henry, he leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Katharine, one brother, John, one grandmother, Mrs. Olive Carpenter, of Aurora, one grandfather, Michael Henry, of this place, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
"We shall meet, but we shall miss
him;
There will be one vacant chair;
We shall linger to caress him,
As we breathe our evening prayer."
