DEATH OF 77-YEAR-OLD WOMAN BRINGS END TO LONG ILLNESS

Miss Louisa Fuerste died at 3 Monday morning in the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Fuerste. Death ended a long illness.

Miss Fuerste would have been 78 next Aug. 10. She was born in 1858 in Guttenberg. With the exception of a few years in Milwaukee, she lived her whole life here.

Miss Fuerste’s parents, Frederick and Caroline Fuerste, were pioneer residents of Guttenberg. Miss Fuerste attended the Guttenberg Public Schools, and later engaged in the millinery business together with her sister-in-law. She was a charter member of Golden Rule Camp No. 973, Royal Neighbors of America.

Surviving her are a brother, William Fuerste of Guttenberg; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Fuerste of Guttenberg; a nephew, Dr. Frederick Fuerste of Dubuque; and a niece, Mrs. Louisa Davis of Chicago.

Funeral services were held at 2 Wednesday afternoon in the Fuerste home. Burial was in City Cemetery.

GUTTENBERG: Louise Fuerste, highly esteemed Guttenberg woman, passed away at her home here Monday morning at 3:00 o'clock, at the age of 77 years, seven months and 20 days, following an illness of a long duration. She had been an invalid for several years previous to her death. She was born at Guttenberg on August 10, 1858, a daughter of Frederick and Caroline Fuerste, early pioneer residents of Guttenberg. Her entire life, with the exception of a few years, when she resided at Milwaukee, Wis., was spent in Guttenberg. She attended the Guttenberg public schools, where she received her education. For many years she was successfully engaged in the millinery business here in partnership with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Fuerste. Her pleasing personality and kind disposition during life won her many friends. To know her was to like and respect her. She was a charter member of Golden Rule Camp No. 973, R.N.A., of Guttenberg, which order had charge of the funeral services, held at the Fuerste home here Wednesday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. Her death is deeply mourned by one brother, William Fuerste, of Guttenberg; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Fuerste, of Guttenberg; a nephew, Dr. Frederick Fuerste, of Dubuque; a niece, Mrs. Louise Davis, of Chicago, and other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss her.
