William Fueste Dies Following A Prolonged Illness
_______William Fuerste died at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening in the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Lena Fuerste, where he had lived for the past 20 years. Death ended a long illness.
Mr. Fuerste was born and reared in Guttenberg, but lived in many places between New York City and the Klondike before he returned here in 1916 to spend the remainder of this his life.
He was born here March 25, 1863, and was 73 years of age at the time of his death. Following graduation from the local high school, he attended the Bryant Stratton Business school in Chicago, and later matriculated to the University of Wisconsin at Madison. There he was graduated with law degree.
Practices Law
Following graduation, he was employed for a time by the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Milwaukee. After leaving Milwaukee, he established a law practice at Sioux Falls, S. D. Later he went to the Klondike during the famous gold rush, and was a court reporter for the Canadian government.
He spent several years in western states, and then went to New York City in 1910. There he was engaged in several different business enterprises.
He returned to Guttenberg in 1916 and resided in the home of his sister-in-law.
Funeral Today
He is survived by Mrs. Fuerste, a nephew, Dr. Frederick Fuerste of Dubuque; and a niece, Mrs. Louise Davies of Chicago.
Funeral services are to be held at the Fuerste home at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Burial in City cemetery will follow.
