Passes Away at Her Home Friday After Long Illness.

Mrs. Caroline Fuerste passed away Friday, May 27, after a lingering illness, at the advanced age of 81 years and 15 days, at her home on Second street. Caroline Fuerste was born in Vogelsburg, Thuringia, Germany, May 12, 1829; came to America in 1849; married to Fritz Fuerste at Chicago in 1854; came to Guttenberg with her husband in 1855; leaves two sons, Chas. of this city, Wm. of California and one daughter Louise of this city; also one brother Florenz Osius of this city. The funeral was held Sunday May 29. The pall bearers were F. J. Saeugling, H. J. Overbeck, W. H. Scholz, Emil Frey, Ed. Kuempel and John Ruthop. County Attorney Scholz spoke at the house and at the grave. Interment was made in the City cemetery.

Caroline Fuerste was born in Vogelsburg, Thuergingen, Germany, May 12, 1829, and died at her residence on Second street, Friday May 27, of cerebral hemorrhages and paralysis, aged eighty-one years and 15 days. She had been bedfast a week after suffering a second stroke of paralysis, the first having occurred October 1907, from which she had fairly well recovered.

Deceased came to America in 1849, and was married in Chicago to Fritz Fuerste, August 12, 1854, and with her husband came to Guttenberg in 1855. To them were born five children; two daughters having died in infancy. Her husband died in 1895. Surviving her are two sons and one daughter, Charles and Louise of Guttenberg, William of New York [sic], and her brother Florenz Osius of this city.

The funeral took place Sunday at 2 o’clock p. m., Atty. Chas. E. Scholz spoke at the house and at the grave in the City cemetery. The pall bearers were F. J. Saeugling, H. J. Overbeck, W. H. Scholz, Emil Frey, Ed Kuempel, John Ruthop.
