PASSING OF AGED LADY
_______MRS. FRED KLEINHANS EXPIRES AT CHARLES CITY SATURDAY
_______BURIED AT GARNAVILLO TUES.
_______Deceased Was Formerly a Resident of Clayton, But Moved to Charles City Few Months Ago [sic]
At the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Kuempel, at Charles City Mrs. Fred Kleinhans passed away last Saturday morning after a five weeks’ illness caused from cancer of the liver.
The deceased was formerly a resident of Clayton, having resided there about fifty-five years and came there with her parents from Germany. She had been married three times and the last time was to Fred Kleinhans, who with her daughter, Mrs. George Kuempel, and also a brother, John Backus, of Gainsboro, Saskatchewan, Canada survives. After their residence of many years at Clayton Mrs. Kleinhans and her husband moved from there in the early part of this summer to Charles City to make their home with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kuempel.
The remains were brought back to this county for interment, which was made in the Catholic cemetery at Garnavillo. The body arrived at Clayton Monday, accompanied by the aged husband and the son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kuempel. Services were held in the Catholic church at Garnavillo Tuesday, conducted by Rev. L. Raedler.
