Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 13 Nov. 1919. Strawberry Point column.

Mrs. Anna Margaret Krauss was born Feb. 25, 1833, at Gesen near Floss, Bavaria. She was christened and confirmed at the Lutheran church of the same place.

Grown up to womanhood she was married to B. Krauss, with whom she came to America in 1867. They immediately settled on a farm near Arlington. Here they remained for three years. Then they moved to a farm about five miles west of town; sixteen years later, in 1882, they retired from farming and since then lived here in town.

Four children were given to them - three daughters and one son, namely, Mrs. D. F____, Mrs. John Schug and Miss Elizabeth Krauss, and John. Besides these she is survived by her mourning husband, Bart. Krauss, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, John Wiesender; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Weig and Mrs. Barbara Welf.

To her was given good health throughout her life. Never was she seriously sick. Only the last three years it may be said, did she really feel the burden of old age. Last summer however, she began slowly to fail. She was finally summoned to the better land Wednesday evening, at six o'clock, having reached the age of 86 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Mrs. Krauss was a devout member of the Lutheran church at this place. She was a true Christian character who lived not with the tongue alone but in work and truth. Her delight was to meditate upon the word of God, and many a Sunday afternoon was spent during her life in meditation of the same. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church of this place Saturday at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Fritschel, and her earthly remains were laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery.
