Mrs. Fred Wilker died at her home in Boardman township after a short illness Saturday, July 26th.
Emma Maria Caroline Lahrs, wife of Fred Wilker, was born February 24, 1879, in Read township. She was baptized on March 23rd of the same year and confirmed in the Zion's church in Clayton Center on April 10, 1892, by Rev. Seifert.
On July 1, 1902, she was united in marriage to Fred Wilker and this happy union was blessed with six children, of which the eldest, Nora, died in infancy. The remaining five who survive the mother are: Esther, 14 years old; Arno, 10 years old; George, 8 years old; Lorine, 5 years old, and the youngest, Lucile, who was born July 23 and cost the life of the mother.
The deceased was always in good health up to two years ago when she had to submit to an operation and to all appearances she had fully recovered. She passed away at her home in Boardman township July 26, 1919, to join those who have gone before. Her age was 40 years, 5 months and 2 days. Besides her husband and five children, three brothers and three sisters as well as her aged mother mourn her early departure.
The funeral services were held from the home and in the church at Clayton Center on Tuesday, July 29, Rev. Athenstadt officiating.
