George Hulbert, Jr., was born March 21, 1897, at Luana, Iowa; and died at a hospital at Camp Grant, Ill.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hulbert of Boardman township and lived with them in the farm near here since 1898, until September 5, 1918, when he was called into the service of his country, going to Camp Dodge and from there to Camp Grant.
He was taken sick with tonsilitis three weeks ago and his parents were called there, but returned thinking he would recover. He took cold however, and died on Easter Sunday, April 20, at 3:00 a.m. at the age of 22 years, one month and seven days. He leaves to mourn his death his father and mother, two sisters, Esther, Mrs. Vance Macha, of Giard, Jessie at home, and six brothers, Alvah, Vern, Vernia and Curley at home, and Benjamine and Glen who are with the A.E.F. in France.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 12:30 at the house and at 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical Lutheran church, Rev. C. H. Franke will have charge of the service, and burial will be made in the East Side cemetery.
He died in the service of his country and the community will sorrow with his family over the sacrifice.
