Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Apr. 1919. Strawberry Point column.

The death of Jauk Schaefer occurred at the Ed Eden home last Saturday. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Fritschel.

Mr. Schaefer was born in Germany, Jan. 1, 1849, and came to this country in 1883, coming to Strawberry Point in 1896 where he has since lived. He leaves two brothers, Geo Schaefer of this place and Dirk Schaefer of Monticello, and one sister Mrs. Grace Huls of Oklahoma to mourn his death. Burial took place in the local cemetery.
