Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 20 Feb. 1919. Strawberry Point column.

Howard Perre Adams was born Aug. 19, 1897 at Forestville, Iowa, and died at the home of his parents in Strawberry Point, Iowa, Feb. 15, 1919.

The family moved to Strawberry Point six years ago. Howard entered the High School at that time and graduated with the class of 1916. The following February after entering school he suffered from a severe attack of rheumatism which left him weakened with leakage of the heart. These attacks continued at times. James Opperman also a member of the class of 1916, was sick about the same time and died recently. During the Kirkland revival meetings he made a profession of Christ as his Saviour and on Feb. 15th, just three years to the date of his death he joined the M.E. church at this place.

After his high school days Howard helped his father in the local grain mill and worked at the carpenter trade some. Last year he secured a Civil Service position as a Rural Mail carrier out of this place. He carried mail for three months until his health forced him to stop. June 1, 1918, he was taken ill and confined to the home for five months, he recovered and was up and around working again until four weeks ago when he was taken sick with influenza which weakened him until death followed.

During his periods of sickness which were severe and long he was given the best that loving care could give. He leaves to mourn his death, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Adams, two sisters Bernice and Bernita, his two grandmothers, Mrs. Martha Adams of Manchester and Mrs. F. Rosenkrans of Dundeed, Iowa, besides a huge number of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elton D. Wells at the home Monday, with interment in Strawberry Point cemetery.
