Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 23 Jan. 1919.

Mrs. Henrietta Donalhe Thurber was born May 12, 1875, in the state of Michigan and died Monday, Jan. 20, 1919, at her home in Mason City, Iowa. Deceased was the daughter of Henry and Margaret Donahe, coming to Iowa with them at the age of two years.

On Dec. 6, 1893 she was united in marriage to J. S. Thurber and several years later the family moved to Elkader where they resided about ten years, going from here to Mason City about a year and a half ago. Six children were born to this union, four boys, James of Vida, Mont., Cecil, Charles and Joseph who reside at home, and two daughters, Cora, Mrs. William Crane, of Elkader, and Virginia at home. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Dwight Bower, Mrs. Eddie Bower and Mrs. John Crandall all of Waterloo, also Mrs. Clarence Alderson of Littleport.

In the autumn of 1917 Mrs. Thurber became interested in the Congregational Church and while attending the services she came to know Christ as her own personal Savior and was baptized into the Christian faith, in which she died.

Mrs. Thurber had not been well for several years and had not long since undergone an operation, but quite recently she was attacked by the epidemic which has wrought such havoc all around us during the last few months and on Monday morning at 10:30 she passed away.

Our hearts are full of sympathy for the grief stricken husband, children and sisters who are called upon to mourn the loss of wife, mother and sister.

The remains were brought to Elkader Tuesday night to the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Crane, and on Wednesday short funeral services were held at the residence, conducted by Rev. G. R. Hull, after which she was taken to Mederville and laid to rest in the family lot.

(Note: The surname Donahe/Donalhe appeared in the obit as presented here.)
